The Ultimate Leadership
Experience in Nepal

A 12-month leadership journey combining Leading Teams’ Personal Trademark Program with an 18-day mountain biking expedition through Upper Mustang, Nepal.

The journey to extraordinary leadership requires more than just training —it demands a profound shift in perspective.

The Ultimate Leadership Laboratory

Forget the boardroom. We’re taking leadership to the limit.

High-performing teams are built on trust and accountability — but those qualities can’t be taught in theory. They have to be lived.

On this expedition, you’ll do just that. Each day combines immersive physical challenge with reflective leadership work. Between rides and climbs, you’ll take part in facilitated Leading Teams sessions designed to deepen self-awareness, strengthen relationships, and apply the High Performing Teams model in real time.

Before the Trip: Building Your Personal Trademark

Nine months before departure, you’ll be given access to Leading Teams’ Personal Trademark Program — the same process Leading Teams has used to develop leaders in elite sport and business.

Who You Are as a Leader

Your Personal Trademark is four words that capture who you are as a leader: three that represent your strengths, and one that names the gap standing between you and the leader you want to become. Arriving at those four words is the work — and it’s confronting, clarifying and deeply personal.

Through the self-paced course and workbook, you will:

Map your life story

Map the defining moments of your life and uncover how they shaped your leadership style.

Examine your energy

Examine where you’re investing your energy across work, relationships and life.

Challenge your inner dialogue

Audit your internal dialogue and surface the beliefs that quietly limit you.

Seek honest feedback

Seek honest feedback from the people who know you best and see you clearly.

Define your trademark

Define your Personal Trademark, and set affirmations and goals to close the gap.

You won’t do this alone

Four facilitated sessions.

In the months leading into Nepal, your expedition group meets four times with Leading Teams facilitators. These sessions guide you through the Personal Trademark process, create accountability and begin building the trust your team will rely on in the mountains.

Ready to discover how you lead when the environment changes everything?

Join the journey where leadership isn’t just taught—it’s earned, leaving a legacy of high performance that lasts long after you leave Nepal.

This trip will provide opportunities to:

Build/test your leadership philosophy and personal trademark in a challenging team-based environment.

Further explore and apply Leading Teams leadership models in real time, whilst challenging yourself, both physically and mentally.

The program will include:

Daily reviews, personal reflection and journaling

Building strong relationships with other senior leaders

Sharing leadership challenges and providing support for other leaders

Consolidating your personal trademark and leadership philosophy.

On the trip

18 days where your trademark gets tested

Upper Mustang is a former forbidden kingdom on the Tibetan plateau — a landscape of wind-carved cliffs, ancient walled villages and high mountain passes. For 18 days, you’ll ride through it with a team of fellow leaders, supported end-to-end by ENFP’s directly managed crew and expedition-grade health and safety standards.

Leading Teams facilitators travel with you. Every day on the trail becomes leadership material:

Journaling

Facilitated journaling that captures what the mountains are teaching you, while it’s raw.

Reflection

Guided group reflections at day’s end — how you showed up, how you responded under fatigue and pressure, and what your team saw in you.

Leadership lessons

Short, sharp lessons delivered on the trail, when the terrain has just made the point for us.

Matt is the founder and co-owner of The Custodian Way, a group of businesses (including ENFP) that focus on maximising human potential. Matt is a qualified physiotherapist and chiropractor, and he has been facilitating mountain biking tours in Nepal for the past 10 years.

Tim Ferguson

Leading Teams

I began my relationship with the Leading Teams while in senior management at the Gordon Institute of TAFE in Geelong. I saw firsthand the benefits of the program in my teams and across the organisation. The Gordon became the most successful TAFE commercially in Australia. I began full time employment with Leading Teams in 2012 and I am now a Director of the business.

Justin Peckett

Leading Teams

Justin joined Leading Teams in 1996 as an athlete facilitator when he was a footballer at St Kilda Football Club. He retired in 2006 following a career that spanned 17 years and 252 games with the Saints. I would like to be described as someone who is engaged, interested, a hard worker, available, a role model, wise, funny, a trusted and valued business partner.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Upper Mustang is remote — transporting spare batteries is a genuine headache, charging is unreliable, and if a motor fails halfway up the valley, there’s no fixing it. Plus, we kinda think it’s better old school.

No. The main thing is that you arrive fit — we’ll help you with training guidance from the moment you commit. Some basic bike skill is needed, but you’ll always ride within your own limits, and there’s no prize for being first down a hill. You can walk any section that’s beyond you.

Honest answer: some days are big. Riding days range from 10 km to 60+ km at altitudes between 2,700 m and 4,900 m, with rest days built in and vehicle support on certain sections. You set your own pace. Ask any past rider about the rocky descent into Chhusang — it still gets talked about in the group chat years later. That’s rather the point.

There are inherent risks in mountain biking and in travelling through remote areas — we won’t pretend otherwise. What we can tell you is that we take safety extremely seriously: Australian-trained guides, established safety systems, communications with built-in redundancies, and we carry a defibrillator. Our crew is directly managed by ENFP, not subcontracted. You can read about our approach to safety here.

Yes — bikes and riding gear aren’t included in the trip cost. We handle the logistics once you’re there: bike transport from Pokhara to Jomsom, porters for your luggage, and your bike box stored and returned to Pokhara for the trip home. Not sure if your bike is up to it? Ask us — we’ve seen what survives Mustang and what doesn’t.

All 17 nights are included: comfortable hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and traditional tea houses through the mountains. Tea houses are simple — think shared rooms and the occasional drop toilet. Fair warning from a past guest: months after getting home, she admitted she missed the drop toilets. Nobody misses the boardroom.

The trip ends. The group doesn’t. Past expedition groups are still in daily contact years later — training for events together, turning up to support each other’s races, reuniting at our documentary screenings, and coming back for the next adventure. You’ll come home with your Personal Trademark and a tribe of leaders who watched you earn it.

ENFP expeditions are typically captured by our film crew and premiered at a documentary screening back home — past films include For the Last Time and Get Out of Your Way. It’s a chance to relive the journey with your team, and for the people in your life to understand what you actually did out there. Whether you appear on camera is always your choice.

Yes — travel insurance is mandatory and isn’t included in the trip cost. Your policy must cover mountain biking and emergency helicopter evacuation at altitude. We’ll point you toward suitable options once you’ve secured your place.
